Is the website free to use?

Yes, Navut is free to use.


What is Navut for and how do I use it?

Navut is an unique online tool that allows you to find your ideal neighborhood, see the properties available and local providers in the neighborhood and/or get in touch with a Neighborhood Specialist or a real estate agent. All you have to do is choose and set the importance of a criteria using the Neighborhood Finder. You could choose as many criteria as you want. From your criteria selection, you'll be given the top 5 neighborhoods that match your preferences. When you click on a neighborhood, either from your top 5 matches or on the map, you'll be taken to the Neighborhood Profile, where you'll be able to see detailed information about that neighborhood. The Neighborhood Profile also contains properties available and local providers in that area. Should you be interested in any of property available or just simply wanted to know more about the neighborhood, there's always a property manager or a real estate agent waiting to help you.


What are the services Navut offers, exactly?

Navut offers an indispensable tool called the Neighborhood Finder to help you efficiently find your ideal neighborhood. Providing your preferences, the tool allows us to matchmake you with neighborhoods that fit your lifestyle and delegate Neighborhood Specialists or real estate agents who understand your needs.


Why choose Navut and not other websites?

In other websites, you'll find properties in random neighborhoods and most of these properties have biased reviews to be sold. You can end up in a dangerous neighborhood or an expensive area by mistake, for example. Navut is not a listing website. Our goal is to help ease the burden of figuring out what neighborhood to live in a city where someone knows nothing about. We provide properties in the Neighborhood Profiles because choosing a place to live is one of the biggest challenges one faces when moving. The properties available in the Neighborhood Profiles are hand-picked to your preferences. With Navut, your search is customizable, and so are your results - everything is built to help you settle-in with ease.


Why does Navut use those specific criteria?

The criteria used are based on common parameters that most people look for in a neighborhood, to ensure their comfort and well-being.


What if I want to suggest a criteria that I didn't see on Navut?

We are always happy to hear feedback and suggestions, please feel free to contact our team via info@navut.com.


Where does your information come from and how often is it updated?

We have put lots of time into collecting data from only the most reliable sources. Our data comes from official sources such as Census of Canada and National Household Survey for demographics, Fraser Institute Report Cards. All of Navut's data was carefully collected and allocated to each neighborhood, and only comes from the most credible and official sources available. How often its gets updated depends on the data. Some are updated on a daily basis while others are updated every 5 years.


Is your calculation reliable?

Our calculation was designed based on proven techniques in order to properly process the data. The system has been through over 1 year of testing, and has been refined by industry professionals. Why are you active only in Canada?

Simply put, we are starting here because we are from here, and wished to provide a great service within the Canadian cities we love. However, the sky is the limit with Navut, and plans for expansion are never far off.

Why can’t I use Google to find the best place to live?

Google is a great source of information, but the answers are not always reliable or provided in a user-friendly format. We have created a one stop, time-saving, easy to use, and trustworthy process that helps find your ideal neighborhood.


Using Navut

What kind of information is provided on the Neighborhood Profiles?

We have lots of information to ensure highly personalized results. This data includes demographics, housing prices, quality of schools, crime rates, local businesses, transportation, and user reviews.


Which areas do you currently cover?

We currently cover the seven largest Canadian cities: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Winnipeg. We are working on expanding our locations in the near future. Email us at info@navut.com if you have a specific city request.


Why don't you have more cities available?

There's an old saying that goes 'Don't bite off more than you can chew', and we'd like to think we've adhered to that. We wanted to make sure our service was streamlined and efficient for our users before expanding. We've made sure to listen to our users' needs throughout the entire process, and we prefer taking a little more time to develop a high-quality service than a faster, but inefficient service. That said, rest assured, there's no lack of ambition here at Navut: A few cities today, and tomorrow: the world!


Why isn't the price range lower / higher?

The price ranges on the Neighborhood Finder match the most up to date price for the neighborhoods. We combine historical prices of recent transactions in the neighborhood with the price of properties that are currently available to give you the best idea of which areas fit within your budget.


How can I leave a review?

You can leave a review by signing up and visiting the Neighborhood Profile of the neighborhood you wish to leave a review on. The option is located at the end of the page, leave as many as you like!


What do I do if I don't think the result of my search was accurate?

Navut uses two different algorhithms to suggest a neighborhood. If you're not happy with the choices, you can adjust the criteria you chose and start your search again. If you have any trouble, you can email us at info@navut.com.


What's the use of pinning a neighborhood or a property and how do I do it?

Pinning a neighborhood or a property will enable you to find your favorites easier and maybe compare later. So, if you like a neighborhood, pin it to save it and keep looking around. You'll find the 'pin' icon along with the neighborhood's name on your top 5 list for easy reference.


Why do I need to register?

Registering helps Navut to better understand your profile, match you with the most suitable neighborhood. Also helps saving your search preferences for future use, and grants you access to a greater usability and functionality of the tool.


I found my neighborhood and there is nothing on sale / for rent. Now what?

If no options show up according to your search parameters, don't worry. In that case, we will help you get in touch with Neighborhood Specialist who will help you find your place according to your specifications.


Why aren't there a lot of apartments / houses available?

The insertion of properties is in progress in certain areas. There are new houses and apartments being added at Navut everyday! But if you didn't find anything on the neighborhood you liked, feel free to reach out with the Neighborhood Specialists in the area and they will be happy to provide you with a list of properties you're looking for.


What if I want more details / pictures of the property?

If you want more information, just send an email to info@navut.com and we will be more than happy to help you out!


How do I save my search so I don't have to do everything again everytime I come to Navut?

This is part of the reason we encourage users to create a login, so that your search information will be logged into the system. This way you don't have to start over every time you use the Neighborhood Finder, and over time will help you create a profile.


Why can I save only 5 searches?

Our algorithm is extremely precise and for most people 1-3 searches is more than enough to find their ideal neighborhood.


Can I update a search I already created without saving a new one?

You are always free to adjust the parameters as you search, to turn up new options.


What if I don't know exactly when i'm moving, is that a problem?

It's ok! Getting in touch with a Neighborhood Specialist and finding a place is the most important thing. If you have changes in your schedule, just inform the real estate agent.


How can I leave a feedback if I'm not happy with Navut's service?

If you have any problems with our services, please let us know right away! We're always happy to hear your experience using our tool and it is our job to make Navut better. Feel free to email us at info@navut.com.

What do I do if I don't receive the email to confirm my Navut account?

You can email us at info@navut.com, and we'll fix that for you right away.


Privacy Questions

Does Navut use any personal information during the process?

The criteria you select on the neighborhood finder are used to match you with the most suitable neighborhoods and local providers.


How does Navut's Privacy Policy work?

Why does Navut ask me my phone number on my profile?

You're not obligated to give us your phone number at all, but it's easier for the real estate agent to contact you and to get more information regarding your neighborhood needs this way.


Can I use Navut anonymously?

If you don't feel confortable giving your name but still wishes to use our services, feel free to use your initials instead of your name. But remember to add a real email or telephone number so the Neighborhood Specialist can contact you!


Will you provide my information to partners?

We will never provide any information to partners without your consent.


What kind of information does the real estate agent get about me?

The only information we provide them is the information you provide us. This means your basic contact information, and the criteria you chose during your neighborhood search. We give the real estate agent this information so that they can better help you with your customized search.


Is Navut going to post anything on my behalf on the social network I choose to login with?

No way! Navut is never going to post anything on your behalf.


Why can't I just create a Login and a Password instead of using my email?

We need at least one way of communicating with you. This is mostly so that the Neighborhood Specialist has a way that to get in touch with you. Don't worry, we are never going to spam you!


Getting in touch with a real estate agent or closing a deal

Can I buy / rent a house / apartment through Navut? How should I pay it?

We help you connect with the perfect real estate agent on the ideal neighborhood for you, but we do not offer payment transaction services! All the payments needed will have to be discussed with the real estate agent chosen by you.


Can I buy / rent a house / apartment outside of Canada?

Unfortunately for now, Navut doesn't offer services outside of Canada.


What if Im not satisfied with my current real estate agent?

You can always contact us at info@navut.com and we will do our absolute best to make your experience better.


What if my phone number is from another country, will the real estate agents still contact me?

If you are calling from a number outside Canada, it's likely that the real estate agent will talk to you through email or Skype.


Can the real estate agents contact me in my native language if I'm not comfortable with English or French?

If you chose a specific community on your search, our alghorithm may have matched you with someone that speaks your language. Additionally, in your Account Settings, you'll be able to include the languages of communication you prefer. If at all possible, we will do our best to match you with someone who is able to communicate with you in a language you are comfortable with.


How can I trust that the real estate agents are reliable?

Navut only recruits real estate agents that we have personally spoken to and interacted with, as we want to provide the best and most personalized service possible.


How do you choose the real estate agents?

We personally get in touch with every real estate agent who signs up for Navut and see if they are a good fit with their corresponding neighborhood and with our service.


What kind of information do I get about the real estate agent?

All real estate agents working with Navut create their own profile which you are free to view. You can also expect, based on your search preferences, however, that they will know a lot about your preferred neighborhood, as your personalized specialist. When you get in touch with them, you are of course free to ask all the questions you wish.


Are the real estate agents Navut's employees?

No. The real estate agents, or Neighborhood Specialists, are Navut's partners, not employees.
